Water And Flower

So, back to the water lily, what a beauty she was. It was a very hot day with a heavy sun beating down on us. We were on a tour in Vietnam and the guide had tromped us through quite a few pagodas and ancient fortresses that day. The concrete and cobblestone walks radiated the heat back up at us making the day feel even hotter. I looked down at the water and there in the middle of the pond sat this lone flower that seemed to be stretching upward to gather the day’s heat. Like a languid dancer this water lily extended her delicate neck toward the noonday sun enjoying the heat, needing more. I suspected that in the cooler evening this lovely flower suffered and shivered atop the water and possibly withering slightly, aging more at night until one day her time in this little pond was up and then I suspected that she would topple over into the water and becoming turtle food.
